About the Author
Hossein Bidgoli, Ph.D., is professor of Management Information Systems at California State University. Dr. Bidgoli helped set up the first PC Lab in the United States and served as its first director. He is the author of 45 textbooks, 27 manuals and more than five dozen technical articles and papers on various aspects of computer applications, information systems and network security, e-commerce and decision support systems published and presented throughout the world. Dr. Bidgoli also serves as the editor-in-chief of THE HANDBOOK OF TECHNOLOGY MANAGEMENT, THE INTERNET ENCYCLOPEDIA, THE HANDBOOK OF INFORMATION SECURITY, THE HANDBOOK OF COMPUTER NETWORKS, and THE ENCYCLOPEDIA OF INFORMATION SYSTEMS. THE ENCYCLOPEDIA OF INFORMATION SYSTEMS was a recipient of one of the Library Journal's Best Reference Sources for 2002. THE INTERNET ENCYCLOPEDIA was a recipient of one of the PSP Awards (Professional and Scholarly Publishing), 2004, by Association of American Publishers.

Great textbook

I knew that there were holes in my knowledge base when it came to computers. You can be around them your entire life and even make significant money from working on them and installing them and their derivatives, but this book is invaluable to have as a foundation of why computers will run most aspects of our lives. This book gives you the language necessary to have an intelligent dialogue about the most profound technology since the printing press. I wish i would have read this book years ago.

A timely new edition for an excellent textbook

Even in the 21st century it is still difficult to comprehend the pace of new developments and progress in Information Technology. Thus, keeping up with these innovations and what is even more difficult – revealing them in a textbook for college instructors in a unique way to keep their students interested and engaged is an extremely challenging undertaking. Nevertheless, Professor Bidgoli year after year succeeded in this mission! We already have a seventh revision of his superb textbook where Professor Bidgoli succeeded keeping it both current and engaging. As a college textbook the new revision of this textbook was not created just to describe new technological developments. It was actually written based on feedback and examination of students’ challenges and instructors’ input.
